A.B.Tees was started in 1986 and inspired by an experience at the Jersey shore. The sun was shinning that day in June and several stores along the beach had screen printed t-shirts hanging outdoors. The colors on some of the shirts were vibrant and had an impact on me visually. Several days later, I went to Pearl Paint on Canal Street and purchased a screen print kit that included some black ink, a screen and one squeegee. While still living at home, my parent's garage was transformed into a one man printing shop.
I spent the next few months learning the screen print process and damaged my share of t-shirts during this trial phase. Somehow New York University found out about me and gave me a substantial order for their upcoming freshman orientation; that's when things got serious. I decided to spend what little money I had at that point in my life (having just been out of college for one year) and with the help of Anthony Sr., I bought my first automatic press.
Much has changed since then and 22 years later, I am still providing high quality screen printed apparel to the promotion, garment manufacturing and music industries as well as local schools, teams, designers and corporate accounts. I now have 8 full-time employees and two new automatic presses and one manual machine. Business gets better each year and this one looks like it will be the best yet.
